EUROPEAN “REACH” REGULATION
(REGISTRATION, EVALUATION, AUTHORIZATION and RESTRICTION of CHEMICALS)
NLMK Pennsylvania, as a producer of Hot Rolled and Cold Rolled carbon steel coils, Sharon Coating LLC as a producer of Hot
Dip Galvanized and Galvanneal steel coils, and NLMK Indiana as a producer of Hot Rolled carbon steel slabs and coils
recognizes the need for documentation that supports our customers’ efforts to complete the registration process of their
finished products in the REACH program.
The NLMK USA product will not be directly registered within the program – only indirectly through our customer base.
Supporting documentation includes reported steel chemistry in the form of a metallurgical certification and includes
associated SDS for the coated product (oils or passivating surface chemical treatment). Customers should request specific SDS
for surface chemical treatment of coated product, as these may not meet requirements regarding chromium.
Steel, as sold by the NLMK USA facilities with exceptions as noted above, is compliant with the requirements for the materials
categorized with a level of ‘Very High Concern’ per the REACH standard (latest revision as of June 2023).
